Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team. The Assistant Buyer role will support the Senior Buyer to bring the most compelling range and great value products to our customers.
As an Assistant Buyer within the commercial team, you will be working with market leading brands such as Apple and Google. This role will be responsible for managing the range at SKU level and working closely with the Senior Buyer, Merchandising, Online and GTM teams to drive sales and profitability of the category. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a sharp eye for detail, enjoys working in a busy department, and has the ability to work autonomously.
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
* Working on new Apple launches with the ambition to be first to market worldwide on new products
* Management of promotional planning on Google Chrome liaising with brands such as Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer, and Samsung
* Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
* Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices
* Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
* Supporting the Buyer and Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges - cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
* Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets
You will need:
* Established experience in buying or a similar role within a commercial function
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* To be organised, analytical, and numerate with good judgment
* Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
* Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
* Excellent Excel and Microsoft Suite skills
