Job Title: Capital Accountant (Non OR Part Qualified) - FTC
Fixed Term Contract: Until June 2026
Location: Head office, 2 Cavendish Square, London.
Full time: 37.5 Hours per week.
Shift times: Monday to Friday 9am - 5:30pm
Hybrid working: 3 WFH days per week.
Salary: Up to £35,000 (Dependant on Experience)
We're looking for a Capital Accountant (Non OR Part Qualified) to join our Finance team based at our Corporate offices in central London. This is a chance to be part of our corporate accounting team, who work at pace and at high volumes to deliver vital financial compliance and information to our organisation.
In this role, you'll be responsible for a critical part of HCA Healthcare UK's capital accounting process, ensuring that capital expenditures and fixed assets are properly recorded, managed, and reported for accurate financial statements.
As a Capital Accountant, you'll undertake the responsibility of:
* Month end - creating accruals, posting required journals and running depreciation, vat recoverable schedules and retirements
* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and test work for fixed asset accounts
* Completing US capital reporting
* Maintain fixed asset registers ensuring they are complete and accurate
* Review capital expenditure requests to ensure they are accounted for in line with the policy
* Reconcile complete capital projects
* Preparation of annual depreciation budget
* Complete fixed asset notes for statutory accounts and US Tax team
* Deliver training and assist with queries on capitalisation rules, capital system and fixed assets to all teams involved in capital projects
* Liaising with internal and external audit
* Ensuring compliance to company Key Controls around capital expenditure and fixed assets
* Perform other related tasks
What you'll bring:
* Relevant Accounting experience or Finance degree, is desirable but not essential
* Previous fixed asset and capital experience is preferable but not essential
* Previous experience of a corporate accounting and month end process is desirable
* Willing to undertake study through HCA Healthcare UK toward gaining an ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential
* A proactive positive approach and able to provide solutions to challenges.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence and work collaboratively with people at all levels.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills
