Job Summary
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is looking for a full-time Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead and develop the service. The successful post holder will need to have relevant experience to coordinate the recovery pathway for patients who have had either an acute or elective admission for Acute Coronary Syndrome, revascularisation procedures/surgery, and following valve surgery.
Leading the multi-disciplinary team including a Band 6 exercise physiologist and Cardiac Rehabilitation Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists, the post holder will be based in the acute hospital setting. However, a large component of the role will be to organise and supervise a variety of Cardiac Rehabilitation classes based in the community, including patient/carer education sessions, exercise classes, and Tai Chi.
Critical to the role will be the ability of the successful postholder to work with our lead consultant cardiologist and clinical partners in cardiology/cardiac surgery, medicine, pharmacy, clinical psychology, and Primary Care. Central to the role will be a solid foundation in cardiac nursing. A thorough working knowledge of the application of current BACPR standards and NACR audit requirements will be required.
Please contact Cardiology/Syncope Nurse Consultant, Dr. Kate Gee on 0121 371 5254 to arrange an informal visit and further discussion regarding this exciting opportunity.

2. Deliver a clear, knowledgeable, and practical approach to service delivery that reflects the BACPR rehabilitation standards, promoting a patient-centred menu-driven programme.
3. Co-ordinate and develop the rehabilitation team so that services both in QEB and at our off-site locations deliver the education and exercise programmes required to support patient recovery.
4. Liaise with our clinical colleagues both in QEB, Primary Care, and external centres to promote a cohesive cardiac rehabilitation pathway from discharge to long-term maintenance of health and well-being.
5. Facilitate the collection and data entry for the National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation, supporting data submission and reporting.
6. Use the relevant electronic systems to promote excellent communication skills across the secondary/primary care interface.
7. Promote evidence-based practice and develop the team in response to innovations and changes in service delivery.
8. Create a learning environment for staff development and student supervision of a variety of disciplines.
Informal visits are highly recommended, and the interview process will include a tabletop exercise.
