Job summary
Our 8-year organisational strategy (2022-2030) centres around the Trust being 'more than a hospital'. Against our 5 purposes are a range of significant programmes that transform care for our patients across both our hospital sites, community services, and across multiple clinical pathways. The Head of Transformation will form part of the Strategy leadership team with oversight of all work programmes, understanding the interdependencies and supporting leaders to successfully drive and embed lasting solutions and a range of transformation outcomes and benefits. The Head of Transformation will be a visible and motivated leader able to manage complex programmes as directed by the Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer.
Delivery and implementation plans are required across these programmes to achieve our goals and realise the benefits we set out to achieve. The PMO team are at the centre of this delivery, working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to deliver sustainable change that is evidenced based, reduces health inequalities and has a tangible benefits profile. The PMO team will report directly to the Head of Transformation.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Strategy team, estates colleagues, operational colleagues and external stakeholders as required to ensure successful implementation of significant change projects that demonstrate sound programme governance and drive a culture that supports staff to fully participate in transformation objectives.
The post-holder will lead on programme governance, support the effective running of the Strategic Delivery Board to enable executive oversight of delivery, and will work flexibly and astutely to ensure programme benefits are delivered on time and to a specified budget. The post holder will assess delivery confidence in projects as well as reduce identified risk.
The Head of Transformation will deputise for the Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer as required at both internal and external forums.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will have responsibility for:
Working with the relevant Corporate Directors, Group management teams and senior clinicians to support the delivery of commissioned projects.
To track the effectiveness and benefits of key strategic development programmes to ensure a robust assessment of value for money and quality are both made and articulated.
Ensuring any programme or project includes planning, structuring, designing, delivering and measuring benefits.
Allocating and re-allocating project management resource to support delivery as appropriate.
Understanding and monitoring the workload and deliverables of the strategic transformation projects.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Support the Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer in the successful delivery of the major programmes across multiple portfolios (pathway transformation, capital builds, digital).
Maintaining a work plan of key milestones to ensure successful delivery across interrelated, complex programmes of work.
Providing leadership to the PMO team and other colleagues to ensure progress is made across the transformation agenda.
Identify opportunities for the PMO team to develop and ensure an inclusive environment for the team to thrive.
Ensuring that all exceptions and risks to programme/project delivery are highlighted and appropriate mitigating actions are taken to keep the programme on track. The individual will work across organisational boundaries, supporting a culture to deliver the development of end-to-end pathways for patients.
Ensuring communications both externally and internally are planned in conjunction with the Communications team for any planned completion or major milestone of a project.
Ensuring robust evaluations are completed and reported following the end of a project.
Promote the effective use of PM3 as the organisation's platform to monitor delivery and ensure consistency in approach, as well as evaluating its effectiveness and ongoing use.
Responding to operational pressure during heightened escalation and releasing the PMO team as required.
Supporting resolution and escalation of challenges associated with a programme to the Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer. Working collaboratively with the strategy leads to identify triggers to reassess the strategy if internal or external environment changes.
Support the Strategic Delivery Board (SDB) in its form and function with the work plan used to provide executive level assurance on delivery.
Establishing and embedding relationships with internal and external stakeholders that are required to support a strategic programme.
