Job description
This is an entry-level position, for a role that requires high attention to detail and technical skill.
1. Knowledge in SolidWorks is desired, along with minimum experience in other CAD Software.
2. Training on Swood SolidWorks extension, joinery modeling and construction methods, and joinery basic understanding will be provided.
3. They work for a wide variety of private clients, high-end contractors, and interior design clients, and their briefs are generally to turn their concept images and drawings into cost-effective reality, using their creativity and technical knowledge in new and innovative ways.
4. The technical design team works closely with the concept-sales designers to produce shop drawings and specifications for both customer concept sign-off and production.
5. The sales designers handle sampling, concept design, and client management, with the technical design team producing the detailed drawings for sign-off, production, and installation.
Duties will include:
6. To work alongside a team of 3 other in-house technical designers.
7. To assist a team of sales and concept designers with technical advice and work together to detail highly bespoke items.
8. To translate concept drawings/visuals into shop drawings for manufacture and concept sign-off, principally using Solidworks/ SWOOD.
9. To produce drawings to the appropriate level of detail (including specialist materials) for manufacture and to be used on-site during installation.
10. To ensure deadlines are met and designs are produced efficiently.
11. To work with the sales designers to produce detailed specifications for procurement, manufacture, and client sign-off.
Skills required:
12. Previous experience using CAD software's such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, etc.
13. Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills.
14. A thorough approach and attention to detail.
15. Some experience with other software packages is beneficial: SketchUp, and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.).
16. Positive and proactive working attitude.
17. Passionate about technical design.
18. Willingness to learn and continually develop skills.
