University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
This post offers advanced specialist training as a Trust Clinical Fellow for 1 year in Glaucoma to be based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
The Leicester Royal Infirmary provides the ophthalmology service for Leicestershire, a district with a population of over one million.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for an ophthalmologist nearing the end of their training or already in possession of CCT. It offers post accreditation experience beyond traditional UK registrar rotations for ophthalmologists wishing to specialize in glaucoma.

In addition to gaining significant experience in these newer modalities of glaucoma therapy, fellows can also expect to become fully trained independent trabeculectomy surgeons by the end of the fellowship. Over 150 trabeculectomies are performed in the department in a year as well as significant numbers of the PAUL aqueous tube shunt. Fellows are also expected to undertake both supervised and independent cataract surgery lists, during which there is significant exposure to angle closure eyes.
