Position Details Position Title : Business Affairs Partner Team: Production, as part of the Creative department Reports to : Executive Producer Role Description and Expectations As the Business Affairs Partner, you will be responsible for overseeing all talent and legal components of projects completed by the Production team. You will act as both a talent affairs manager and rights and licensing expert, supporting Producers and Creatives with securing the right talent and assets that are needed to create exceptional work. You are the person who keeps legal, compliance, and rights-ownership in check. You are a problem solver, creative partner and proactive negotiator. You are curious, tenacious and the perfect blend of a rule-follower and pioneer. In this role you will also be the key point of contact for Klick’s legal and finance teams, and will work closely with the Executive Producer and Supervising Producer to ensure all projects are appropriately contracted, licensed and paid. You can turn chaos into clarity and enjoy the process of doing so.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Provide business strategic management leadership and ownership for the production team
2. Provide guidance to junior members of business affairs and creative production
3. Support key stakeholders across multiple Klick business units as a shared service leader
4. Develop and implement effective processes and structures to streamline collaboration between the team, internal departments, and external partners.
5. Ensure compliance with agency best practices and guidelines, including union agreements, employment regulations, client protocols, and Klick's standards.
6. Collaborate with producers and the Executive Producer on the needs of contracts support
7. Possesses extensive expertise and a thorough understanding of the processes and operations involved in development, production, acquisition, distribution, negotiation and licensing
8. Manage SAG-AFTRA and ACTRA partnerships, and any other talent union relationships
9. Understand the nuance and requirements of working with talent unions, union talent and non-union talent, in Canada, the United States and abroad
10. Oversee all talent relationships, agent relationships, booking companies, casting firms, and their subsequent contracts and negotiations for (including, but not limited to): actors, voice actors, models, influencers, celebrities, musicians, artists, performers, creators, freelance talent, etc.
11. Propose, create, own and manage all templates, key documents and internal processes for business affairs, contract templates, key talent management documents, etc.
12. Oversee rights and licensing for all work, including static and moving content, music, etc.
13. Ensure all contracts, legal requirements and vendor agreements are negotiated effectively, approached with consistency and are financially optimized.

24. Advanced people skills - training, performance management, evaluation
25. Advanced resource management skills - time, quality and needs assessments
Education & Experience:
26. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field is an asset
27. 10+ years of experience managing talent, licenses and contracts in an agency environment
28. Extensive experience in business affairs
29. Experience working on a global-scale with contracts, legal, risk management, compliance, etc.
30. Experience working in a broadcast agency setting is required
31. Experience working with clients in life sciences is an asset
