Job Purpose
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will work in a team environment with suppliers and EnerSys to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste, and continuous improvements. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that purchased products produced meet quality standards needed to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to EnerSys local and corporate Quality Management System. This position reports to the Senior Supplier Quality Manager, based in Corporate headquarters. THIS POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK ONSITE AT ONE OF OUR ENERSYS LOCATIONS WHEN NOT TRAVELING. MUST BE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE TO AN ENERSYS OFFICE.
Travel Requirements: 60% or more Travel to Suppliers, other EnerSys Sites and Corporate
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the supplier quality activities for the Plastic commodity.
2. Lead Supplier quality audits to ensure the product and process meets the quality standard requirements.
3. Lead the risk assessment and process capabilities for purchased items.
4. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA) application, Lean-Six Sigma and Measurement System Analysis.
5. Undertake special projects as required by supporting and leading process improvement activities at supplier(s).
6. Execute product qualification and validation for purchased items with experience developing control plans and executing PPAPs.
7. Lead/conduct supplier and product approval, requires knowledge and experience of advanced product quality planning.
8. Lead/participate in problem analysis and resolution by applying problem-solving techniques, such as 8D, A3, 5-Why etc.
9. Guide, motivate and monitor suppliers by analyzing the supplier performance data and drive the Quality improvement plans.
10. Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
11. Undertake personal continuous training and development to independently determine approach and assigned tasks.
12. Work with cross-functional departments which comprise of Purchasing, Strategic sourcing and Engineering to drive the organizational vision and goals.
Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Science in Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline, practical knowledge of supplier management, supplier audit.
2. 8+ years of experience in Supplier Quality (total 15+ years of experience in quality).
3. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience with Plastics injection molding process.
4. Highly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
5. Training in related techniques such as Six Sigma, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, etc. would be a plus.
6. Certified IATF16949 or VDA Supplier auditor at least ISO9001 auditor, with hands-on experience in performing supplier audits.
Competencies:
1. Strong knowledge of quality management systems and their requirements, including the ability to learn and understand the requirements of alternate quality systems standards such as ISO 9000, IATF16949, VDA6.3, ISO 14001, AS9100, TL9000, ISO13485, etc.
2. Strong knowledge and experience in performing supplier auditing adhering to various quality management systems.
3. Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills.
4. Experience with Plastic Injection Molding, Mechanical and Electrical assembly processes and the ability to understand EnerSys roles, responsibilities, and departments including Sourcing, Purchasing, Engineering, and Suppliers.
5. Must be a problem solver, self-starter able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks with minimal supervision (Strong auditing, prioritization, and communication skills).
6. Must be able to understand and become proficient in the business systems required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. This includes ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, PTC Windchill or similar.
7. Must be able to interface with all levels of personnel including Management, Suppliers, and auditors.
8. Demonstrated high ethical standards to do the right thing the first time, every time.
9. Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple, changing priorities.
10. Ability to understand and improve the supplier manufacturing process.
11. Curiosity toward technical aspects of mechanical and electrical components as well as a lean-manufacturing approach.
12. Proactive approach towards problem-solving to improve the KPI(s) related to the Quality Department.
13. Relative experience in design or manufacturing environment with a good understanding of product life cycle from conception to obsolescence.
14. Strong data analysis skill and data-driven approach and lead and develop suppliers and internal teams with effective communication, problem-solving, and delegation skills.
