Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday (9am to 3pm)

Job Overview:
Teaching Personnel are looking for a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to join the team at a specialized SEN school in Wolverhampton. The school caters to students aged 5-19 with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will support our students' educational and therapeutic journey within a structured, inclusive, and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supportive Learning Environment: Assist in creating a nurturing atmosphere where students can feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
- Personalized Assistance: Work closely with students to tailor academic and life skills instruction to their unique needs and abilities.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partner with educational and therapeutic staff to implement individualized learning plans and assist in specialized classrooms equipped for life skills, design, and sensory support.
- Community Integration: Participate in community-based learning, helping students apply practical skills in real-world settings.
- Behavioral Support: Aid in the development of students' emotional regulation and social skills, utilizing our school's sensory and quiet spaces when needed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or young adults in an SEN setting is highly desirable.
- A collaborative, empathetic approach and strong communication skills.
- Ability to foster trust and establish strong, positive relationships with students.
- Flexibility to engage in different therapeutic and academic strategies.
- An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
