About the Role:
As a Personal Adviser within Stockport Council’s Leaving Care Team, you’ll provide dedicated support to young people aged 16–25 who are or have been looked after by the local authority. You’ll guide them through the transition to adulthood—offering practical help, emotional support, and ensuring their voices are heard in every step of their pathway planning.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Managing a caseload and delivering statutory responsibilities in line with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
Supporting young people in education, training, and employment.
Promoting independent living through financial, housing, and emotional support.
Working closely with partner agencies such as housing, health, education, and youth offending services.
Delivering Pathway Plans and attending multi-agency meetings.
Supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people in line with Home Office guidance.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting care leavers or working with young people.
Possesses knowledge of relevant legislation and excellent assessment/recording skills.
Is a strong communicator, both written and verbal.
Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in childcare or similar).
Has a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
