About Us
Havering is a London borough like no other. Located in Zone 6, we are in close proximity to both the hustle and bustle of the city and the surrounding Essex countryside. We have a strong corporate agenda and are embedding an increasingly insight-driven culture, which we think makes this a very exciting time to join us.
We are committed to seeing life through the eyes of young people in Havering. We promote positive language and attitudes toward young people, their networks, and communities. Co-production is at the heart of our work, and young people’s voices are at the center of the design and delivery of our service.
Our core aim is to safeguard children and young people who may be at risk of harm outside of their family and home. We use techniques like information sharing between agencies and data analysis to identify those young people who may be at risk of exploitation. We then work with young people to protect them from harm and improve their life chances.
You will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with young people in a range of contexts and settings and take account of the complex lives young people live and bring about positive change.
About You
As Target Youth Co-ordinator you will:
* Have significant experience of working with young people, with an understanding of the range of issues that impact on their lives and experiences.
* Bring some experience of managing and motivating a team.
* Have the ability to develop relationships with staff from other teams, departments, and external agencies including schools/alternative provisions.
* Work in partnership with Children’s Services, Education, Voluntary Sector, and Housing.
* Demonstrate curiosity about the needs of Havering’s youth population.
* Have an understanding of contextual safeguarding and risks associated with extra-familial harm.
* Be passionate about co-production with young people to co-create and design services to meet their needs.
* Be prepared to undertake some evening and weekend work as needed.
