Personal Assistant for a Young Child LS10 - Leeds - LS10
To support Joel with accessing activities that he enjoys in the community and city-wide, and to help him try new activities so that he can learn new skills and meet new people.
About the Employer:
Joel is a bubbly and very energetic 6-year-old boy who enjoys playing with Lego and in the garden. He has Autism and has a number of allergies, carrying an epi-pen for emergencies. Joel also has asthma and may require an inhaler after extensive activity.
Responsibilities:
1. Support Joel in accessing the community and activities across Leeds.
2. Take Joel to the park, soft play, outdoor activities, and trampoline park.
3. Help Joel burn off his excess energy.
4. Assist Joyce in taking Joel to Christmas parties, performances, or the cinema.
5. Take Joel out for lunch.
Personal Care/Health:
1. Administer Joel’s epi-pen if he has an allergic reaction (training can be provided).
2. Support Joel in using his inhaler if he struggles to breathe after running (training can be provided).
3. Change Joel’s nappy if required.
Duties may vary from day to day.

What You Can Expect:
1. Training around administering Epi-pens and using inhalers.
2. Support from Joyce in getting to know Joel before taking him out alone.
3. Opportunity to spend time with a lovely, fast-paced, and energetic little boy.
Hours:
1. 10 hours over the month, with additional hours during school holidays.
2. Flexible availability during the week after school, weekends, and school holidays.
3. Hours and times to be agreed upon starting.
Rate of Pay:
To be discussed.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
1. Understanding of children with Autism and additional needs.
2. Good mobility and ability to be active.
3. Ability to support Joel with challenging behaviors when he is dysregulated.
4. Resilience and commitment.
5. Outgoing and chatty personality.
6. Driver preferred.
