Fressingfield Medical Centre is a very friendly and supportive GP practice in rural north Suffolk and currently are recruiting an additional, experienced phlebotomist to join our nursing team. We are offering this position on a part-time basis for 12 hours per week, ideally to work on Thursday and Friday morning. Applicants need to have the flexibility to work additional hours to cover colleagues' absence.
This important role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to train to become a healthcare assistant.

Main duties of the job
* Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
* Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording, and efficient dispatching of samples.
* Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
* Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
* Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues.
* Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
Experience
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
* Consistently confidential, compassionate, and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.
* Ability to communicate effectively and to understand the needs of the patient.
* Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
* Flexibility and an adaptable approach.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* General practice experience would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
