Manufacturing Engineer (Automotive)
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team delivering design, engineering, and manufacturing solutions for ultra-premium car programmes. The role involves project management engineering, with a practical approach to visualising, planning, and taking designs from product creation to manufacturing and validation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, implement, and maintain robust jigs, fixtures, manufacturing, and assembly tooling with attention to detail and repeatability.
* Design fixtures/tooling for the assembly and manufacturing of components.
* Support planning, installation, commissioning, try-out, and development of new tools and equipment.
* Develop and optimise new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
* Provide technical launch support for car build (prototype and production) at customer sites.
* Liaise with Suppliers, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer teams.
* Represent the department in engineering design reviews and during test and development activities if required.
* Offer technical guidance and advice to the team when needed.
Requirements
* Extensive experience in Automotive product/tooling development and design.
* Experience in Design of Experiments (Taguchi methodology, etc.) and the optimisation of manufacturing processes.
* Six Sigma Black Belt, desirable.
* Proficiency in root cause analysis.
* Knowledge of tool, jig, and fixture design and manufacture is essential.
* Experience in press tools and injection moulding, desirable.
* Knowledge of carbon lay-up, desirable.
* Experience in Digital Mock Up/Design for Manufacture best practice.
* Able to develop and scheme both parts and tool designs.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to changing requirements at short notice.
* Proficient in MS Office suite, VisMockup, Catia V5.
* Maintain a professional attitude and ability to give and receive feedback constructively.
Experience and Qualifications
* Master's level understanding in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical engineering discipline.
* Substantial experience in the automotive sector, preferably within interiors.
* Solid experience in using Catia V5 as a manufacturing tool in a similar role.
Working Conditions
Monday to Friday, 8am until 4:30pm.
Overtime occasionally available (dependent upon successfully completing probation and business requirements).
Compensation
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
