Job summary
The cardiology department at the University Hospitals of the North Midlands provides diagnostic testing for inpatients and outpatients at both Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital. These include exercise tolerance testing, head up tilt table testing, echocardiography, pacemaker implant and follow-up, hemodynamic monitoring during invasive coronary angiography, electrophysiological testing and electrocardiography (ECG). Resting electrocardiography and ambulatory ECG monitoring is an essential part of the wider service, with the primary focus of this role being to support ECG services and arrhythmia monitoring services both at the trust and in the community. In addition to ECG, this role involves assisting senior healthcare scientists in the provision of specialist clinics. The successful applicant will join an established team of 15 healthcare science assistants.
Main duties of the job
The cardiology Department has an established training & development programme to provide the practical skills required for providing a range of specialist invasive & non-invasive cardiac investigations. This role will include recording ECGs, assisting in exercise tolerance & tilt testing, arrhythmia monitoring, and community-based ECG clinics in Stoke on Trent. Analysis and interpretation of clinical data & providing technical reports will be required. Services are provided at various community settings across Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire as well as at both Royal Stoke & County Hospital Sites. Candidates will need to be able to travel to each of these settings.

Education/Qualifications
* Recognised qualification in ECG recording
* GCSE Science or equivalent
Experience
* Experience in a cardiac physiology department
* Experience delivering cardiac diagnostic testing
* Evidence of recent learning in cardiac science
