Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to come and join our team on the Isle of Wight. Your role as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be to provide high quality, child-centred care for children in the community, including preschool and schools. A key part of your role will be to provide information and support to parents, carers, the wider children's workforce and other professionals. To ensure a high standard of child centred service delivery is achieved in line with best practice and commissioning intentions. Main duties of the job To work as an autonomous practitioner providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and evidenced based intervention to children and young people with communication difficulties, within the context of the paediatric Speech and Language Therapy team. To work collaboratively with colleagues ensuring multi-disciplinary care planning and intervention. To contribute in a timely fashion to the process of assessment and review for EHCP (Education Healthcare Plan) of SEN, Continuing NHS Funded Care, providing specialist reports and attending multidisciplinary meetings as required. To deliver effective training programmes to parents/carers and Health and Social care colleagues within area of specialism. To contribute to supervision and training of less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and students. To maintain local and national standards with regards to maintaining record keeping, activity data, and caseload management.
