This post is to provide anaesthetic services for a variety of surgical specialities as outlined in the timetable. Bradford Teaching Hospitals caters for all surgical specialities except major cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, and transplant surgery.
General Duties
The duties of the post may be changed from time to time in light of changing requirements of the Anaesthetic Service subject to the agreement of the post holder. The post holder will support the General Anaesthesia services within Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Emergency Duties
The Department of Anaesthetics has two Consultant Anaesthetists on call each night, one to cover the Critical Care Unit and one to cover acute theatre work and Obstetrics.
Clinical Duties
The post holder will maintain the highest clinical standards in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. Work closely with colleagues to share the provision of Anaesthetic advice to all inpatients.
To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing, to improve and advance the service. To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department. Teaching and training of trainees, junior medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues, and medical students. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
It is expected that the appointee would provide flexible cover for annual leave. A commitment to audit and clinical governance and risk management is mandatory.
