EMJ, a leading medical publisher, is searching for an enthusiastic Medical Journalist to drive our hourly SEO-optimised news strategy, covering the latest breakthroughs across 18 therapy areas. As a Medical Journalist, you’ll r esearch, write, and report top-trending stories, attend major European congresses, and conduct interviews with thought leaders—all to keep healthcare professionals informed and empowered. What You’ll Be Doing: Sourcing and writing SEO-optimised news on medical research, public health policies, and global healthcare trends. Publishing medically accurate, search-engine-optimised articles in EMJ’s house style daily. Attending international congresses and press briefings, providing written and video coverage of key events. Conducting interviews (written and video) with healthcare experts and KOLs. Monitoring emerging health trends and providing insightful coverage through EMJ’s lens. Collaborating with the editorial team to adapt content for multiple platforms, including the web, email, and social media. Contributing to the growth of EMJ’s podcast series and building a network of specialists across diverse clinical fields. What We’re Looking For: A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, publishing, or a scientific discipline. A keen interest in medical or scientific writing, with the ability to communicate complex medical concepts to a professional audience. Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in content SEO, Google Trends, and WordPress. Confidence in front of a camera for interviews and video reporting. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple projects. Knowledge of medical terminology and the ABPI code of practice is a plus. We’d expect to see you in the office at least 3 days a week. During your probation, though, you’ll be in with us all five days—it’s the best way to get you up to speed and support your development.
