Job Description
Please note that the first round of interviews will take place with the management team from the Midlothian Justice Unpaid Work Team. Candidates whose application is taken forward will then be invited to a second round of interviews led by current and former service users.
Essential Criteria:
Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System in Scotland and an understanding of the issues that contribute to offending.
It is essential that the jobholder has one or more qualifications at SCQF Level 7.
Knowledge and competence in using computer systems.
Previous experience of working in a Health and Social Care environment.
Experience of delivering and assessing learning and employability programmes.
Experience of assessing the needs of learners and developing a personal action plan to support learning.
Knowledge and experience of working in groups and the ability to apply knowledge to practice.
Knowledge and experience of applying Health and Safety Legislation and guidance.
Experience in working with challenging client groups and the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with clients with complex needs, balancing their needs and that of the control explicit in managing a Court Order.
Values that are consistent with the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice for social service workers.
Desirable
Knowledge and competence in leading projects, skill transference and coordination is desirable but a willingness to learn these skills is essential.
HNC / HND in Health and Social Care.
ISOH Managing Safely.
In Post Competency
When in post, the jobholder will be expected to undertake within a reasonable timescale:
Health and Safety training including risk assessment and ISOH managing safely.
SVQ 2 and/or 3 in Health and Social Care.
Training for Trainers and Employment and Learning Assessment qualifications.

Working Pattern: Wednesday - Saturday 8:30am - 4:50pm (Unpaid 20 minute lunch break) and Tuesday 9am-1pm.
Weeks per year: 52
Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £32,892.18 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with protected adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with protected adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
