Job Responsibilities: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nurse and GPs to promote health and wellbeing. Such responsibilities may include: Basic Nursing Duties General observations e.g. temperature, BP, pulse, height, weight, BMI Venepuncture Assessment and care of patients requiring wound care Removal of Sutures/Clips Urinalysis and blood sugar analysis Specimen collection and requesting basic pathology tests, urine culture, swabs etc Recording ECGs Peak Flow Readings Home BP monitoring Ear syringing Dietary Advice and weight management New Patient Medicals. Cytology, Immunisations and vaccinations including childhood immunisations and flu, pneumonia and B12 vaccinations in line with DoH advice and PGDs Long term chronic disease monitoring Advise, support and, where appropriate, administer vaccinations to patients travelling abroad. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings. Implement and participate in routine immunisations and vaccinations, ensuring safe storage, rotation, stock take and disposal of vaccines. Assist in emergency situations, should they occur at the Practice and ensure that emergency equipment is kept well stocked and maintained. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.
