Full Time, Permanent
Would you like to work in one of the largest Private Housing Services in England, and help improve Bristol’s private rented sector housing standards?
Bristol is a vibrant city, with nearly 30% of Bristol's population living in the private rented sector. The Private Housing Service is expanding due to new licensing schemes.
As a result, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for Private Housing Team Leaders who will lead a team of Environmental Health Housing Officers, Private Housing Caseworkers and or Tenancy Relations Officers.
We are looking for individuals who have both the technical expertise and supervisory skills to manage small teams of front-line officers. Your team will work on a part of the licensing function, such as inspections, compliance, enforcement or engagement.
Some roles include Tenancy Relations and Trading Standards related issues which are required under our licence conditions or a Landlord and Tenant Liaison and Technical support role for the service.
Working with the Private Housing Manager and other Private Housing Team Leaders, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of licensing schemes across the city. You will be able to allocate and monitor caseloads, support, coach and mentor less experienced colleagues and plan and deliver effective training programmes.
The Private Housing Service is responsible for a full range of private-sector housing issues including, empty-homes, service requests in other private rented properties, landlord and tenant liaison, and technical support. There may be opportunities in the future to work in these different areas.
Essential Requirements
You should have an extensive knowledge of a wide range of environmental health housing legislation, good practice and housing construction, as well as a good knowledge of residential tenancy legislation.
You will have extensive post-qualification environmental health housing practice with experience of inspections, scheduling, informal engagement, formal legal processes, and extensive experience of working in a customer-focussed front-line service.
