About the Role:
ITS-SED is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to provide strategic advice and act as the “controlling mind” for Senior Safety accountable and responsible personnel. This critical role involves advising on the delivery of safety programmes and artefacts, ensuring compliance with legislation, defence regulations, and established policies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Programme Delivery: Ensure alignment with the overarching programme and safety management plan, evolving the safety programme to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
* Artefact Development: Collaborate with delivery teams to produce high-quality safety and environmental artefacts within specified timelines.
* Regulatory Guidance: Advise Delivery Teams (DTs) on compliance with policies, legislation, and defence regulations, ensuring assets are demonstrably safe.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the DT in safety engagements, including regulatory interfaces, and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
* Activity Oversight: Manage daily activities, ensuring timely delivery of tasks against agreed plans.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in delivering Land Equipment safety and environmental artefacts.
* Expertise in safety case reports and hazard logs.
* Experience with MOD safety and environmental protection, including implementation of POSMS and POEMS, and compliance with military regulations and defence standards.
* Practitioner-level understanding of DE&S safety management systems and processes.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Familiarity with concept projects and Maritime Combat Systems.
* Experience with the Land Equipment Operating Centre (LEOC).
* Proficiency in environmental management tools (e.g., POEMS) and safety assessment techniques (FTA/ETA, BowTie, CAE/GSN).
* Knowledge of tools like eCassandra, Hermes, Resolve, ASPIRE, and ASSERT.
