Assistant Coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
Fee Paid Role - £500 per day

Nottingham City Council is looking to appoint three Assistant Coroners to support the Senior and Area Coroners in delivering a high-quality coroner service for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
About the Role
In this role, you will handle complex inquests, including Article 2 and jury cases. You’ll collaborate closely with the Senior and Area Coroners to manage investigations and hearings while ensuring the needs of bereaved families are met. A minimum of 20 days per year is required, with flexibility to accommodate your professional commitments.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek individuals with:
* At least 5 years of experience as a barrister, solicitor, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, meeting the judicial-appointment eligibility condition.
* Expertise in handling complex inquests.
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to fairness and impartiality.
* An understanding of coroner law and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct investigations into deaths and lead inquests in accordance with the law.
* Collaborate with coroners' officers, the police, and medical professionals.
* Provide sensitive communication and support to bereaved families.
