About Age Connects Morgannwg
* We are a vibrant and exciting charity who operate solely for the best interests of the Over 50 age group based at Cynon Linc Aberdare.
* ACM currently supports over a thousand clients at our Information and Advice Hub each year. We provide accurate information and advice so that clients are able to discuss matters that are important to them as well as maximising their income through benefit take up.
* We are looking to expand our face-to-face service in our provision areas of RCT, Merthyr and Bridgend by fully offering our services in the community. We want to offer each client an opportunity to seek face-to-face advice at a community venue local to them, We also are hoping to offer home visits to clients who are unable to make it to a community venue or to the Cynon Linc.
* We are hoping to recruit the right candidate to help us deliver these new and exciting services in the community.
General Responsibilities
* Provision of a knowledgeable and effective Information and Advice Service to older people.
* To provide a full welfare benefit service including Income maximisation and representation.
* Provide information and advice on a range of issues that might be of interest to older people.
* Provide a full welfare benefit advice service to older people including a benefit entitlement check, help with completion of claim forms and help with claims.
* The delivery of this advice would involve organising appointments and meeting face to face at community outreach venues or undertaking home visits.
* Call back to confirm appointments 24 hours prior and confirm items required for appointments.
* Check results on benefit claims that have been made and record gained benefit income on internal database called Charitylog.
* Ensure that we make use of our suite of services and partnership working to provide a holistic and person centred approach to older people that you are supporting.
* Take calls that come through to the relevant lines and support appropriately.
* Maintain accurate, up to date and timely records in line with AQS requirements on Charitylog.
* Use Microsoft Outlook in order to input appointments on calendar and also communicate via email.
* Assist our internal Central Support Team Admin Workers/ Support Workers with queries regarding the service provided to clients.
* Signpost and refer clients to internal and external agencies and service providers that might be able to further their query or assist with their current situation.
* Collect monitoring information. Qualitative and quantitative.
* Ensure the rights, dignity, welfare, confidentiality and privacy of service users is always maintained.
* Ensure Safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
* Keep up to date with relevant local and national laws, policies, and procedures.
* Attend community events, provide information and advice, and promote Age Connect Morgannwg services where possible.
* Attend mandatory training, one to ones, team meetings and staff away days.
* Flexibility will be required as determined by the needs of the service to be confirmed by the Manager.
* Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Manager.
All staff/volunteers working for Age Connects Morgannwg are expected to respond appropriately to any concerns that they may have regarding the abuse/inappropriate treatment of vulnerable adults. The protection of vulnerable adults is a core responsibility at all times.
