Afternoons (14:00-17:00), average 13.5 hours per week.
Worked over a two week rota, which totals 27 hours over a two-week period – Alternate weekends (please see example rota for further details).
Salary: £19,144 pro rata per annum, actual annual salary £8,384 plus a 10% shift allowance.
This is an exciting time to join our Catering Team at the Hospice to work within and help launch our new Café that will be open later this year.
Set in the tranquil grounds of Willen Lake, Willen Hospice is the leading provider of specialist palliative care within the Milton Keynes area. We offer 24 hour / seven days a week palliative care to people who have advanced disease, caring for people in our Inpatient Unit which accommodates 15 patients and the local community. Our person centred care is delivered with compassion and respect for people’s wishes. We have an expanding Therapeutic & Wellbeing service offering Psychological Wellbeing, Social Care, Physiotherapy, Occupational and Complementary Therapy.
As a Catering Assistant, you will serve customers taking hot and cold drinks orders. You will assist in carrying out basic food preparation tasks as requested, including high risk food production such as sandwiches, salads, and fresh cakes.
Duties will also include clearing and washing kitchen utensils, loading and unloading the dishwasher as required, taking payment for food, and ensuring kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained.
The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills with a can-do and flexible approach, with experience of working in a catering/front of house environment. A food hygiene level 1 certificate would be desirable; however, full training will be provided.
