The Site Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment through all stages of the production process. As the only Engineer on site, the successful candidate will be part of the site Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in maximising plant availability / driving efficiencies and profitability at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing external contractors, ensuring sign off of completed works against an agreed standard, compliance with all applicable internal systems, review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Issue Permit to Work.
* Ensure all work carried out has been documented and necessary approval completed before work commences.
* Actively update knowledge of existing and new machinery.
* Provide information regarding fault finding, share any knowledge with Site Manager and Production Supervisors as applicable.
* Ensure all new installations or modifications to existing machinery are commissioned and risk assessed before use.
* Manage tasks so that the site complies with all UK engineering compliance requirements as well as internal system requirements.
* Ensure engineering stores are maintained, ordered and tidy.
* Actively promote safety awareness and cost and quality awareness.
* Report accidents, ill health or near miss situations arising out of work activity are thoroughly reported, investigated and recorded in compliance with the company reporting procedure.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for the right behaviours and competencies as well as a proven track in a similar position. The ideal candidate will ideally have the following:
* Time served multi skilled engineer with an electrical bias or an electrical engineering qualification.
* Several years experience in a similar maintenance role ideally gained within a manufacturing environment.
* A wide breadth of engineering knowledge.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting demands.
* Fault finding skills, including the ability to interrogate PLC's.
* Good working knowledge of MS Office.
* Experience of managing small projects and external contractors.
* Thorough understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation. Experience of Food Safety is highly desirable.
