Directorate: Adult Social Care & All Age Commissioning
Section: Social Care Occupational Therapy Service
Grade: Level 7
Salary: £30,060 - £32,654
Hours: 37
This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants.
The social care occupational therapy service is a busy and fast-paced team of Occupational Therapists (OTs), Senior OTs and OT Assistants.
The team assesses people in the community and provides supports to keep them safe and independent at home, such as advice and information, community equipment, or adaptations to their homes.
The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) is to carry out home and telephone assessments, order and assess community equipment, make recommendations for adaptations, and review adaptations once provided to ensure they meet the person's needs.
You will operate alone in the community, but will have training, supervision, and support from an experienced Senior OT.
To succeed and thrive in this role, you will be committed to working with vulnerable people and will have an understanding of the role of social care.
Knowledge of community equipment will be useful, but full training will be provided.
You will be used to working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with competing demands.
You will also be able to record facts and assessments clearly and concisely to evidence your reasoning when providing or not providing support.
You will also be able to get around the city quickly and efficiently to carry out visits to the people who need our support.
If you would like to discuss the role, please contact Peter Ball (Service Manager) on 01782 237146.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and we expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Please note that if an employee who is currently at risk of redundancy within the organisation applies for this vacancy, their application will receive priority. If this happens, you will be advised accordingly.
