Liquid Scientist (12 month Secondment)

Context/Scope:
This role delivers technical output that carries a financial impact (NSV targets of £4M), and that consistently delivers on the innovation business KPIs/needs. The individual is encouraged to handle multiple projects, initiatives and work streams with guidance from manager and L4 technical mentors. Leveraging commercial and consumer insights, you will act as a source of technical and creative expertise on their cross-functional project teams. You will recommend, design and influence the business to implement new product/technical solutions for application in market.
Financial:
Development, review and management of project budgets.
Deliver Innovation programs within budget (varies by project up to £25k).
Market Complexity:
Europe Innovation is led by a central team based in London, delivering across multiple European markets. This role takes a broad range of consumer information to build industry leading liquids across total beverage alcohol. Positive relationships across functions and markets are required to achieve end-to-end delivery.

To drive competitive advantage through commercially focused technological innovation advised by consumer & strategic science activity.
To deliver new product and technical solutions, ensuring delivery of goals within budget.

* Actively initiates creative ways of working and cultivates a climate where creative thinking flourishes.
* Translates creative ideas into tangible business opportunities, leveraging deep consumer insights in liquid development work - catering the brief and scope to the consumer opportunities.
* Consistently crafts outstanding liquids across categories that meet internal standards for quality, cost and consumer testing hurdles – enjoys creative work on the bench top and brings creative culinary/mixology flair to development, constantly evolves as a liquid developer.
* Seeks out new ingredients/methods for sophisticated outputs (even if they involve risk/complexity); holds to the highest standards in delivering industry-leading liquids.
* The individual demonstrates deep accountability for the end-to-end project execution and where required; seeks out and advises on commercial solutions to ensure project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Education:
* Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or related subject area required.
* Additional certifications including Masters or PhD a plus.
* Engineering or Applied Science Degree or recognised technical equivalent.
Experience:
* Requires 3+ years of relevant project and/or research experience (food or beverage) including doctoral or equivalent experience or post-doctoral research.
* Experienced in leading project teams; consistent track record of solving technical projects through to execution.
* Brewing, Spirits and/or Wine Development experience preferred.
Barriers to Success in Role:
* Lack of experience working in a lab environment.
* Working in a silo and not demonstrating the liquid development knowledge and experience of peers.
* Inability to work on sometimes ambiguous briefs.
* Inability to work at pace.
