Working as a Staff Nurse for Leeds Community Healthcare Trust in a secure environment is very different from anything you will have done before; we work as a community within a community. The Wharfedale Recovery Hub Bilberry and Heather units is located in Wharfedale hospital 2nd floor, Newall Car Road LS21 2LY Otley and is for patients who require a short stay for up to 6 weeks after being discharged from hospital. Home first is the ideal outcome for many patients leaving hospital, but a temporary stay in a setting that is a homely environment that can provide 24-hour care is sometimes required. Wharfedale recovery hubs provide rehabilitation and plan for their safe discharge to either a nursing/care home or to their own home. Our aim is to work with our patients and help them achieve their recovery goals with the support of our nursing and therapy team, which includes Occupational Therapists, Speech and language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Registered nurses, GP and Health Care support workers.The hub operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and you will support the patients on various shift patterns to maintain this operation.Community nursing in the recovery hubs suits people who can work independently and within the wider multi-disciplinary team. You'll be resilient, motivated, and adaptable to working in an ever-changing environment and of course, a passion for providing the best possible care. You will have great communication skills and maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.
