The Infant Feeding Coordinator's key role is to lead the implementation, delivery, and monitoring of the UNICEF BFI standards for the Maternity Directorate, leading to an overall improvement in breastfeeding rates and an organisational culture that successfully supports women in their choice of infant feeding.
This role is mainly weekdays, with some evenings for parent craft and some weekend working required. You will be required to work flexibly to support the service demands.
Main Duties of the Job
The Infant Feeding Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of pathways to achieve and maintain the UNICEF Baby Friendly status award, which includes supporting colleagues through coordinating and providing training and guidance around infant feeding.
The successful post holder will provide expert knowledge as a clinical educator in the promotion and support of evidence-based infant feeding management. They will have a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills which will be used to manage, develop, and lead the clinical teams on all sites in relation to all aspects of infant feeding, as well as facilitate delivery of training as expected by the Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) Training plan.
They will work collaboratively with local public health teams and programs to support women and their families and engage hard-to-reach groups.
Line manage Maternity Support Workers in infant feeding roles and support the MSW apprenticeship programme with timely training of new candidates in infant feeding.
Support coordination of clinics with the Child Health Business Unit, including Tongue Tie division clinics and Infant Feeding Specialist clinic.
Support coordination and facilitation of parent craft education sessions.
