Managed File Transmission (MFT)
Overview
* The Managed File Transmission Team is responsible for managing file transfers for both internal and external customers of CLIENT via the shared file gateways on a variety of different platforms, products, technology, and standards supporting file transfers across the CLIENT Group for all lines of businesses.
* The team supports several technologies that provide highly reliable, resilient, and secure services and are responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle ensuring that bank policies, guidelines, governance, and standards are defined where necessary and followed. Team members are also expected to explore new processes and procedures and continually seek improvement of themselves and the File Transmissions Domain globally by closely working with the MFT Engineering Team.
Purpose of the Role
* The technology specific Solution Architect oversees and manages the end-to-end solution design and is responsible for delivering in line with global patterns and strategies where appropriate and to align business requirements to technology solutions. The role will oversee, manage, and provide consistent end-to-end solution designs which will deliver expected Business Outcomes, satisfy all relevant regulatory requirements, and mitigate identified operational risks. The scope of this role includes medium to large size Value Streams or increasingly complex solutions.
* Our customers are based across the globe covering all the lines on GB / GF in CLIENT. The role will require close collaboration with other regional, architecture, infrastructure, and central engineering teams while our team is expected to increase their skills and abilities by taking advantage of these links as well as exposure to client developers and support teams.
* File Transmissions is one of CLIENT’s ‘Crown Jewels’ (Top Tier services). The File Transmissions services are used by all areas of the bank and are considered one of the most critical services, supporting the flow of data, including payments, into, around and out of the bank.
Skills Required
* A system engineering background and the ability to compare different solutions to meet a business requirement.
* Provide technical leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. Have conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of some of the following areas:
* Data centre hardware infrastructure (servers, networking, storage)
* Security technologies such as firewalls, proxy servers, WAF, IDS/IPS, network segmentation tools
* Identity Access Management (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, Privileged Access Management tools)
* Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet
* Middleware technologies such as WebSphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server or Web server
* Networking (e.g. Cisco/F5 devices, VPN/Leased Line Circuits, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN, SDN)
* Server operating systems internals (Linux, Windows, Solaris)
* Server virtualization, for example VMware, Xen, Hyper-V or KVM
* Storage technologies such as EMC SAN – FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS, CIFS, NFS; Object storage
* High availability and BCDR techniques such as clustering (VCS & MSCS), data replication etc.
* Collaboration tools (e.g. MS Teams, Confluence, Jira)
* Cloud technologies such as Google GCP, Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure, as well as APIs, Kubernetes and the ecosystem.
