Marketing and Communications Planning Manager
London (Hybrid)
Fixed Term 12 Months (Full Time)
At QBE, our purpose is to enable a more resilient future. We are an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 27 countries.
The opportunity
Are you a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with a passion for driving marketing & comms commercial outcomes, being a strategic partner to the business and understanding the importance of embedding operational excellence to achieve this? Do you thrive in a collaborative team environment and have the confidence to make things happen? We're looking for someone just like you to join our Marketing & Communications team on a full time, 12 months fixed term contract.
Your new role
As our Marketing & Communications Planning Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping how we are planning our activity and ensuring operational excellence. You'll spearhead the development of a seamless, integrated planning approach while driving transformation, optimising budgets, and ensuring robust governance and controls. This role isn't for the faint-hearted; you'll need to juggle multiple projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and confidently push forward initiatives that challenge the status quo. You'll work closely with our Head of Marketing & Communications, supporting them in shaping and executing a strategic vision that's both bold and impactful. Your role will be central in aligning short-term goals with long-term strategy, transforming our marketing efforts, and ensuring continuous improvement.
Main responsibilities:
* Develop and lead a comprehensive, forward-thinking planning approach for the Marketing & Communications function, ensuring seamless alignment with business goals and measurable outcomes that drive real impact.
* Take ownership of the quarterly prioritisation process, working with key business stakeholders to ensure resources are allocated effectively and in alignment with top business priorities.
* Identify key market trends, customer insights, and competitive intelligence to guide cross-functional strategic decision-making and keep us ahead of the curve.
* Oversee the budget, making sure we're tracking spend effectively and delivering the maximum impact and ROI possible.
* Implement robust financial tracking and reporting mechanisms, ensuring spend aligns with key priorities and drives measurable results.
* Drive efficiencies and cost-saving initiatives, while never compromising on the high-quality marketing and communications output that defines our brand.
* Collaborate with the wider team to document and optimise key processes, ensuring that the necessary controls and governance are in place to support ongoing success.
* Coordinate key strategic transformation projects that enhance marketing and communications effectiveness, ensuring they're successfully delivered on time, within scope, and with results that speak for themselves.
About You
You're a go-getter who's confident, strategic, and not afraid to take the lead. You'll have experience in financial services marketing (we're looking for that solid industry background).
Skills you'll need:
* A multi-tasker who can spin several plates at once without breaking a sweat.
* A collaborative mindset with the drive to push for transformation.
* A hands-on approach to driving governance, budget optimisation, and operational excellence.
* Experience in strategic planning, budget management, governance, and project coordination (experience in marketing and communications within financial services or insurance).
* Excellent knowledge of performance measurement and process optimisation.
* Leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
* Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Experience influencing cross-functional teams and navigating a complex, matrix organisation.
