The Role As Principal Engineer you will be responsible for driving a platform that empowers the wider engineering community to build solutions fast using API’s to access to the core platform capabilities. You will balance integrating best in class SaaS where that forms part of our platform ecosystem, along with building solutions where they are unique to our offering. You will manage and guide a team of platform engineers who will be responsible for building out the Collinson platform for the future. Key Responsibilities Work with product managers and the wider engineering community to design and build solutions for the wider engineering community To support the product and technology team on new and existing systems as required. Champion agile best practices and Continuous Delivery to drive down backlog. Implement effective tools and SaaS to enhance the engineering experience and enable engineers in other parts of the organisation to focus on delivering value to our customers To sustain and improve the quality of the software and the documentation delivered by the team. To maintain a good technical awareness and familiarity with new and forthcoming relevant technologies and highlight any skills or training requirements within the team. Maintain code documentation to company standards that accurately reflects system functionality and its technical implementations. Knowledge, skills and experience required Extensive experience in large scale enterprise software development with a global reach. Expert in creating simple solutions to complex problems. Proficient in multiple programing languages with deep knowledge in many of the following: Kotlin, Go, Python, Node.js, Rust Experience in designing and building RESTful API services. Working knowledge of Service-oriented architecture. Deep understanding of SOLID Principles, Design Patterns and working experience of putting them to practice. Demonstratable experience of Test Driven Development, unit testing tools, and experience of integration testing and continuous integration / deployment. Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
