To work as part of the multidisciplinary team at the Thornberry Centre, to assist the clinical team in all aspects of patient care and provide day to day administrative services to support the clinical staff, ensuring a patient orientated service is provided. The clinical team consists of a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapist, Prosthetists and Specialist Nurse.

Main duties of the job
* Organise clinic rooms, prepare and clean treatment areas before and after treatment sessions.
* Prepare and raise the necessary paperwork for each clinic, ensuring equipment is available when required.
* Check all patient data on patient database is correct and accurate and ensure all actions, patient contact, clinic outcomes, decisions, queries and telephone calls, etc. are recorded on SystmOne system in a timely fashion.
* Maintain contact and good communication between the service and patients, carers, clinicians, referrers, contractors, other departments, outside agencies and professionals including transport services, GP surgeries, social services, etc.
* Ensure effective verbal communications are maintained with patients, carers, relatives and members of the health and social care teams.
* Ensure and maintain a team approach in maintaining effective administration services across the Prosthetic Service.
* Attend satellite clinic at Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital, or other settings as required.
* Type and print letters to patients, therapists and GPs and carry out photocopying as required.

Job responsibilities
The Prosthetic Service provides care for the population of Plymouth, South and West Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
* Organise clinic rooms, prepare and clean treatment areas before and after treatment sessions.

* Maintain contact and good communication between the service and patients, carers, clinicians, referrers, contractors and other departments, outside agencies and professionals including transport services, GP surgeries, social services, etc.
* Ensure effective verbal communications are maintained with patients, carers, relatives and members of the health and social care teams.
* Ensure and maintain a team approach in maintaining effective administration services across the Prosthetic Service.
* Work closely with clinicians ensuring they are regularly updated and advised on any potential problems that may have arisen, e.g. manufacturing problems or queries.
* Attend the satellite clinic at Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital, or other settings as required.
* Type and print letters to patients, therapists and GPs and carry out photocopying as required.
* Provide cover in the absence of members of the Prosthetic Administration Team e.g. annual or sick leave carrying out additional duties as required.
* Input data onto limb measuring forms and repair/adjustments forms within the clinic as directed by Prosthetist.
* Act as chaperone at any clinic, as requested by patient or clinical staff member.
* Escort patients to and from clinic rooms, assisting the less able to dress / undress as necessary, ensuring their privacy, dignity, safety and comfort.
* Prepare appropriate equipment for casting under the direction of the Prosthetists. Provide assistance during the casting process with patient transfers and with the casting technique under the direction of the clinician. Perform specialist task following completion of appropriate training such as backfill of casts.
* Weigh patients as required. Ensure patients accurate weight is brought to the attention of the requesting clinician and documented appropriately.
* Assist in loading and unloading equipment from the pool car for weekly satellite clinics.
* Be responsible for recording the treatment session accurately, legibly and fully, in accordance with Livewell documentation policies and current local, national and professional guidelines.
* Undertake specific responsibilities when delegated to by Line Manager, other manager or clinical team.
* Undertake mandatory and other training as directed by Livewell Southwest.
* Participate in continuing role / personal development using the appraisal system.
* Receive line management support and supervision.
* Contribute to any audit process.
* Behave in a manner which does not bring the organisation into disrepute.
* Respond to patient requests for socks and supplies and issue as appropriate. Enter data into the service database, monitor stock levels and maintain minimum stock levels by placing orders for replacements as required.
* Abide by all departmental and organizational policies in respect of infection control, cleaning, social distancing, wearing and disposing of PPE.

Risk Management:
In accordance with the Risk Management Strategy, employees will participate, whenever required, with the risk management process. For clinical posts at band 7 and above, the post holder will be required to actively participate in complex audits using research methodology, or participate as required in clinical trials or equipment testing, and will demonstrate high level involvement in local ongoing research projects.
