This is your opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment where your skills will shine.
Do you thrive on solving complex engineering challenges? In this role, you’ll take the lead in design validation and verification using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and dynamic simulation techniques. You will also have the opportunity to mentor team members and contribute to strategic planning for future projects.
Essential Qualifications:
o Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
o Significant experience leading FEA and dynamic simulation techniques.
o Proficiency with industry-standard CAD tools such as Inventor or SolidWorks.
o Demonstrable experience in opto-mechanical systems design.
Desirable Qualifications:
o Chartered Engineer status.
o Experience with FEA heat flow analysis.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in our engineering team, working directly with customers and supporting the Principal Engineer. Your key responsibilities include:
• Translating customer requirements into innovative concept and final designs.
• Preparing documentation for design review meetings and finalizing design decisions.
• Producing manufacturing data packs, including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Leading validation and verification efforts using FEA and dynamic simulation.
• Mentoring junior team members and contributing to resource planning.
What We’re Looking For
We value technical expertise, but we also believe in the power of great communication and teamwork. Here’s what you’ll need to succeed:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including detailed report writing.
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including internationally, to support customer projects and attend professional events.
• Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
Why Join GIL?
This is more than a job—it’s a chance to work on industry-leading projects and grow with a company that’s shaping the future of optical engineering. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to innovation and excellence.
