Water Quality Operative Great Western Hospital, Wiltshire Full Time – 37.5 hours per week. Shift patterns vary for an 8-hour period and are flexible. Salary £23,000 - £30,000 depending on experience plus Serco benefits. On call generous allowance plus Serco benefits. AP Duty holder payments. Serco are recruiting for a Water Quality Operative to join the team at Great Western Hospital. This role is to provide safe and efficient maintenance of the mechanical services and equipment within the hospital as directed by Estates Supervisors and Management. Main Accountabilities: To carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of Services, TMV, Water Sampling Plant, Chlorination Plant within all areas of the Hospital as directed by Supervisors or Managers. To carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance to a wide range of Plant and Equipment. To work in accordance with all relevant Serco Policies & Procedures, Workplace Regulations and Best Practice Guidelines To take a proactive approach to the development and review of Health & Safety systems, work instructions and working practices To always work in a safe and responsible manner with full regard for own and other’s safety. To attend work in compliance with the Computerised Time & Attendance System To use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required To be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, as requested by Supervisors or Managers. Communicate to Supervisors or Managers unrepaired faults or defects or requirements for Spare Parts. To attend on-site and off-site training as required. Be prepared to take on Competent Person Duties which could include but not limited to Pressure systems, Legionella RP, Confined Spaces AP. Requirement to work shifts covering Monday - Sunday to cover on site operational hours of 7:00 – 19:00 May be required to be part of an on-call rota from 19:00 – 07:00 What you’ll need to do the role: Completion of a recognised appropriate Mechanical Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program Required Level 2/3 NVQ Level 2/3 National/Diploma Certificate Knowledge & training in ACOP L8, HSG 274 Parts 1, 2 and 3 HTM 04 Water hygiene CP Training Microbiological sampling of domestic water systems to BS 7592 Servicing of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV’s) Sampling & analysis of Closed and Domestic Water systems Water temperature testing & monitoring Inspection of cold water storage tanks (Confined Spaces CP) Proven experience of working in a similar environment Knowledge and understanding of Mechanical Building Services Good communication and customer service skills What we offer Salary: Competitive salaries with annual reviews.
