Summary of Position
Plymouth State University is seeking a Sr. Decision Scientist to leverage data science to drive strategic initiatives, improve operational efficiency, and help achieve the institution’s goals and mission. Dual reporting to the UNH Director of Institutional Research and Assessment and the PSU President, the senior decision scientist will collaborate closely with the president’s office, institutional research, admissions, marketing, student financial services and the office of the registrar. Using internal and external data sources, the role will use predictive modeling, machine learning, AI, and other analytic techniques to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth. This position offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects that will address the multiple challenges facing higher education today and will enable university leaders to assess which directions will have the greatest impact on achieving the university’s strategic goals and mission.
On campus work is preferred, but a hybrid or mostly remote work arrangement will be considered.

* Master’s degree from an accredited institution in data analytics, statistics, economics, data science, or relevant quantitative or empirical research field.
* Two or more years of relevant experience.
* Ability to grow in the position to take leadership in advancing data analytics and AI tools in application across campus from Enrollment to Finance to Strategy and application of data analysis and statistical modeling.
* Proficiency in utilizing data analytic tools for prediction, modeling, and assessment.
* Experience using data visualization tools.
* Understanding of database systems and data manipulation techniques.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with academic and business leaders.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and follow through.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
