We’re looking for compassionate and caring Nursing Assistants with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey here at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT)- Northern Sexual Health.
JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will act as a Senior Nursing Assistant Band 3, within the Northern Contraception Sexual Health & HIV service. Primarily based at the Hathersage Centre, but with travel to support clinics in North and South Manchester.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a Senior Nursing Assistant, supporting the multidisciplinary citywide team, working under supervision of registered nurses. They will assist patients through the various clinics across the city provided by the service. This includes chaperoning doctors/specialist nurses in clinics, assisting with procedures and carrying out venepuncture. Microscopy training will be required if not already trained, support with skills and knowledge will be provided in order to become competent in performing microscopy to assist with provisional diagnosis of infections within the Sexual Health Department. The post holder will keep the material resources well stocked in the clinical area and in the laboratory. They will be expected to rotate through managed areas within the clinic assisting in general care duties as specified below, under the overall guidance/supervision delegated by a Registered Nurse.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
* Level 2 Apprenticeship in health care OR Gain equivalent knowledge and skill undertaking the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme.
* On completion of the Trust Clinical Support Worker Development Programme demonstrating evidence of clinical knowledge, skill and competency the worker will move to band 3 AfC.
* Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent.
Knowledge
* Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.
* Experience of working within a health care environment.
Skills
* Good communication skills (written and verbal).
* Able to work as a team.
* Able to carry out well-defined routine tasks.
* Able to work on own initiative, following direction/supervision by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner.
* Able to relate well with patients/relatives/visitors/Colleagues/the multi-disciplinary team and wider Trust staff.
* Band 3 support worker competency or equivalent completed
* Band 3 experience 6/12
