Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA Based in Taunton Full time SEN experience is essential Immediate start Have you got experience working in a specialist school, working with needs that include social emotional and mental health needs in addition to ASD and ADHD. Or have you just completed your training to become a higher level teaching assistant and looking to kickstart your career in an amazing specialist school. To be considered for this role you must have excellent experience working with children with special needs; in addition to having relevant qualifications. It is desirable you have knowledge of needs including ASD, ADHD and SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health). The amazing teaching staff at this school work as a team in challenging situations, sometimes interventions will occur. You must be able to handle situations calmly, bringing a positive, patient attitude to the environment. As previously mentioned the needs are predominantly SEMH, students also haven’t worked well in mainstream so aren’t academically achieving. Your role will involve offering classroom support to both students and teacher/s. You may be expected to plan or mark, which will involve offering creative enthusiasm to lessons is vital Morning briefings will take place to plan the day as a team, it is a great opportunity to speak to senior staff members regarding students progress. Your role will involve: supporting teachers in the classroom working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students managing classroom resources taking children on trips and visits having their lunch with children who struggle socially managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe playing board games making amazing displays celebrating success part of therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods.
