About the Role
The firm is a well-known regional law firm with offices in London, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex, and Kent, providing private client and commercial legal services to individuals and SMEs across the region. We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to be based in our Haywards Heath office, reporting to the Finance Director.
The main focus of the role is to oversee and supervise the Accounts department and cashiering operations including all accounting systems, billing, credit control, and client balance management, answering queries and optimizing efficiency with some accounts processing work and postings on client account including client payments via online banking as well as assistance and cover for billing, credit control, and accounts payable.
Additionally, the role includes ensuring the firm complies with all SAR and other regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Month-end processing, cashflow monitoring, payroll processing, and quarterly VAT reporting.
The successful candidate will need to be able to show that they have:
* A minimum of five years of experience in a busy law firm supervising a legal accounts team, handling client transactions and online banking, credit control, and accounts payable.
* An excellent understanding of legal finance and cashiering, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, SRA, and other regulatory compliance.
* Experience of in-house payroll, PAYE, and pension processing.
* Excellent commercial awareness and inter-personal/relational skills.
* Extensive legal cashiering experience, with current knowledge of SAR and VAT.
* Excellent skills in numeracy, communication, and time management.
* Ability to perform well under pressure.
* High attention to detail.
* Excellent IT skills and experience in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel.
* Completed professional development through relevant training bodies such as IFLM, AAT, MBL, or others.
