Company
A successful MEP consultancy with multiple projects across the country operating from their office in Edinburgh. This business consists of a highly qualified and experienced team of M&E design engineers with many years of project experience in all aspects of building services engineering from concept to completion. This organisation are involved in both private and public sector work and are looking for an experience Electrical Building Services Design Engineer or Senior Engineer to join their growing team. Projects are smaller scale and they are looking for a capable engineer who can come in, manage and run with their own multiple small sized jobs. This can vary from Commercial Office Fit-Outs, Local Authority work, Decarbonisation Studies, Condition Surveys and so on.
Role
1. Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
2. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
3. Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc..
4. Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
5. Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
6. Report and technical note writing.
7. Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
8. Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes
Qualifications / Experience
9. Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
10. Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
11. Ideally have 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
12. Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
13. Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
14. Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
15. Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, Amtech, Relux, Dialux. Revit is beneficial.
