Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting for the appointment of a Staff Officer Accountant with a large public sector organisation based in the Derry / L'Derry area. This is a contract role offering a competitive rate with hybrid working and flexible working hours.
Your new role
Working in the Financial Planning department supporting the Deputy Principal Accountant, your duties will include:
1. Assisting the DP Accountant in the preparation of the In-year and future budget exercises/returns;
2. Assisting with the Departmental Five-Year Budget Sustainability Plan;
3. Preparation of financial reports;
4. Advising business areas, budget holders of financial position and issues;
5. Providing advice and guidance to budget holders on budgets, profiling and forecasting, business cases/approvals, funding and charging, and accounting treatments;
6. Other ad hoc duties as requested.
What you'll need to succeed
Have successfully passed the final professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional bodies detailed below:
1. Chartered Accountants Ireland;
2. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
3. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
4. The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
5. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
6. The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
7. The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.
Applications will also be considered by applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
