One of these is our Housing Investment Plan being delivered over the next 5 years including our target to build 1000 homes and deliver Capital Investment Program to substantially improve the quality of our existing homes and estates, to improve their thermal efficiency and support improvements in wellbeing of our residents. These are designed to ensure our Housing portfolio is fit for purpose, of a high standard and supports our Housing Strategy, to meet demand and supply, including the needs of our most vulnerable residents and to ultimately build sustainable neighbourhoods
In support of this the Housing Department is recruiting to a number of positions in its Investment and Development team to ensure the best quality housing and improved outcomes are delivered within our financial constraints to meet the needs and aspirations of current and prospective residents. Critical to our success in achieving this will be having the right team in place who individually and collectively understands that how we deliver is as important as what we deliver.
We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Technical Compliance & Fire Safety Manager to join our Housing team in the Place Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in ensuring statutory compliance across our housing portfolio while managing key health and safety responsibilities, including fire safety, CDM regulations, and Mechanical & Electrical services.
You will oversee compliance programs, work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, and lead a dedicated technical services team. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-quality housing safety and asset management solutions that align with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage statutory compliance programs across the Housing Directorate.
- Oversee Mechanical & Electrical services and ensure adherence to asset management principles.
- Manage CDM and health & safety compliance across housing projects.
- Ensure regulatory standards, compliance with fire safety legislation, including the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Collaborate with internal teams, residents, and external partners to drive service improvements.
- Provide technical expertise on asset management, planned maintenance, and compliance matters.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in building compliance, fire safety, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including CDM Regulations and Building Safety requirements.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to a wide audience.
- A degree in engineering, construction, surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
You must be able to work under you own initiative in a confident and professional manner and be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
A DBS Check at Basic Level is required for this post.
