Personal Care Assistant for a person 29 hr/wk @ £12.50/hr in Redcar - FTE - £24.4k - Redcar - TS10
Two Posts: 29 hours per week & 17 hours per week
We are looking for a kind and caring person to join our team of 7 to provide 24-hour care for our lovely daughter who has complex needs. She lives in the family home with Mam and Dad who organise and oversee her day-to-day needs. Her Healthcare package and training requirements are funded by the CHC.
Chatty and outgoing with a desire to help her enjoy life are the main requirements.
Previous experience in a care setting is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given and overseen by Mam and her current carers. She has a rigid routine to enhance her quality of life. Twice daily baths help her relax and enjoy her exercise routine. We have a ceiling track hoist which makes it very easy to transfer her from bed to chair or her bath.
She loves to be out and on the move, so lots of walks to Redcar and Marske, especially in warmer weather.
Duties include:
1. 2-1 for all personal care, all moving and handling, and medication administration.
2. One to one for all other needs, which is why we like to bring new carers in for 3 or 4 training shifts before we start you on the full shift pattern.
Hours of work and shifts vary on a four-week cycle. These are shared so everyone gets a fair pattern and 2 weekends off as much as possible. Shifts may vary depending on needs, holidays, and sickness.
The pattern is normally a split shift of 6 and 4 hours starting at 7:15 and a late shift of 7 hours from 12:30 pm for a 17-hour contract. For 29 hours, it’s a split shift of 6 and 4 hours, a late shift of 7 hours, and a night shift of 12 hours. Night shift is only after experience and you are confident and competent.
Tuesdays and Fridays she attends the day centre; on these days, shifts are slightly different.
There is a lot to learn initially, but as it’s her routine, it gets easy and enjoyable.
Candidates must have a full, clean driver’s license and be confident in driving a Motability vehicle.
Rates of pay:
Probationary period £12.50 per hour / After training £13.00 per hour
