Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to support in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to the specialty team. This is a split role within 1 team for paediatric diabetes (14 hours per week) and general paediatrics, oncology, haematology, endocrinology. This will involve waiting list management in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers, and typing correspondence as appropriate. The post holder will log referrals, make/amend appointments, and deal with all queries that come into the team. The diabetes role requires yearly audit, yearly figures, input into the Twinkle system, annual review letters, and clinic letters.
The post holder will be responsible for sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing information in a timely manner. Application of the national rules and guidance is critical in relation to treating patients in a timely manner and chronologically, whether by clinical priority or in terms of length of wait.
As part of the administrative support structure, the post-holder is responsible for adhering to the Trust's Access Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications
* Good general education to include GCSE English or equivalent
* RSA 3 Word Processing or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Training, Experience
* Secretarial/Clerical background with experience in database and excel systems
* Knowledge of hospital systems
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting

* Able to work with confidential information
