An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Primary Care Workforce Planner to join the team in Hywel Dda University Health Board on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2026. The successful applicant will join the Workforce Planning Team, working within the People Planning pillar, and will be a dedicated resource and a key member of the Primary Care and Community Services Academy. The post holder will be employed exclusively to support workforce planning in Primary Care to address relevant actions highlighted within the Strategic Workforce Plan for Primary Care. Primary Care and Community Services like many other services across NHS Wales, are facing significant challenges related to delivery of services and ability to meet the changing needs of our local populations. As a result, it is imperative that strategic workforce planning is prioritised, through an integrated approach, to ensure multi-professional working is enabled, in alignment with local and national strategies. Main duties of the job The role is integral to supporting the development of strategic workforce plans for Primary Care and Community Services, which will be enabled through collaboration with key stakeholders, working to promote the development of multi-disciplinary workforce solutions, delivered through sustainable workforce models. The post holder will be expected to provide expert advice to colleagues, which will enable identification of key information, using analytical skills to interpret a wide variety of data, including options for workforce supply, modernisation and redesign. The post holder will identify workforce gaps, opportunities etc, as a means to mitigate current and future challenges, aligning to strategic vision and priorities to promote innovation and prudent use of resource throughout. The role will involve managing service/workforce change, which will be facilitated through effective facilitation, communication and planning skills, often managing conflicting timelines and priorities. This post is advertised as a Band 8a, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 8a level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby 75% of the top of Band 8a will be payable during the 12 months.
