Job Summary:
As part of the Philanthropy Team, the Philanthropy Fundraiser is responsible for income generation from a portfolio of high value trusts, grantmakers and major donors.
You will have relevant charity fundraising experience with exceptional writing skills to create compelling applications and proposals for funding.
You will deliver excellence in the relationship management of both new and existing funders and donors in your portfolio, identifying prospects, networking, attending events and hosting bespoke meetings and visits to achieve your own financial target and grow sustainable income for the Charity.
You will also manage a wide variety of internal stakeholder relationships with senior colleagues in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Main Duties:
Manage a diverse portfolio of existing and new high value trusts, grantmakers and major donors, including planning and developing bespoke and tailored supporter journeys and funder plans.
Build, manage and maintain an ongoing pipeline of prospects, ensuring timely progression through each stage from identification to stewardship, presenting opportunities and making asks that are ambitious, exciting, and tangible.
Ensure an inclusive, engaging and best-in-class experience for donors and funders. Create and deliver moments of stewardship that are personal to each donor and funder and demonstrate the impact of their philanthropy, using phone, video and in person meetings to inspire them to give again.
Work alongside the Philanthropy Support Lead to identify, qualify, and research prospects, ensuring all processes are compliant with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act.
Work with senior colleagues, external stakeholders, and clinicians in the development of engaging and bespoke proposals, aligning with the organisation’s four pillars – magic, equipment, campus and community, research, innovation and education, and advocacy, inspiring new donors to support Alder Hey whilst retaining existing ones.
Support and work with the Philanthropy Officer to develop project cases for support to be used by the Philanthropy team.
Track, monitor and report to the Philanthropy Manager, Head of Philanthropy, and CEO on the financial progress and performance against targets and accounting for any variance.
Network externally to identify and develop relationships with new prospects, including by social media and attendance at relevant business and philanthropy events.
Ensure grant monitoring and reporting is completed to standard, keeping accurate records, and working with the Grants team to ensure reporting is delivered on time.
Identify opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from other teams to ensure maximum benefits to the charity. Work with the rest of the Philanthropy Team and the Corporate Partnerships Team to ensure that where overlaps exist, opportunities are maximised and managed appropriately.
Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure all relevant interactions are always recorded on the CRM (Salesforce).
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance and Grants teams to establish a portfolio of funding options, working together to provide a smooth process.
Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity and represent the Charity at functions and events, in line with the values of the organisation, to promote the objectives of the Charity
Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity Team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.

Person Specification:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
Experience of developing relationships with trusts, grantmakers and/ or high net worth individuals.
Experience of delivering income against agreed targets and timescales as well as other KPIs
Experience of a range of research methods
Experience of writing compelling proposals and funding applications
Experience of efficiently managing and delivering a demanding and varied workload
Experience of using a CRM system or database
Desirable:
Experience of fundraising in the charity sector
Experience of working with celebrities, influencers and other high-profile individuals
Experience of developing budgets
