Job Details: Position Overview: As the Associate Vice President, Engineering EMEA you will be responsible for leading our engineering teams across Europe. You will drive technical strategy, ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering projects, and promote a culture of excellence. In this role, you will also collaborate closely with senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support the company's growth this is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of growth, technology, and strategy as we continue to scale our operations globally. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer and matrix reporting to the General Manager of EMEA this role will require travel across Europe and in the US. Key Responsibilities: Regional Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage engineering teams across the EMEA region, ensuring alignment with global business and technical objectives. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within your teams, promoting continuous improvement and career development. Ensure consistency in engineering practices across multiple locations while respecting local cultural nuances and team dynamics. Manage the recruitment process for top engineering talent across EMEA, and oversee employee performance, coaching, and career growth. Technical Strategy and Execution: Define and implement the technical strategy for the EMEA region, aligned with global business goals, and contribute to the overall product and technology vision. Oversee the engineering delivery pipeline, ensuring that key projects are executed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards. Champion engineering best practices, technical excellence, and continuous innovation across the region. Provide leadership in selecting and driving the adoption of the right technologies, methodologies, and processes to ensure scalable and reliable solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, operations, and sales teams to ensure that engineering efforts are aligned with customer needs and business goals in the EMEA region. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both within and outside of the engineering department, to ensure smooth communication and execution of projects. Collaborate with other senior leaders to define regional goals, establish priorities, and drive business growth. Operational Excellence and Resource Management: Establish and monitor engineering KPIs to ensure projects are progressing according to plan, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and budgets for regional engineering efforts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and cost control. Drive the implementation of agile methodologies, and continuously improve engineering workflows to increase productivity. Innovation and Market Understanding: Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies in the EMEA region to ensure Cubic remains a leader in its field. Encourage innovation within the engineering teams by fostering a mindset of experimentation and adaptation to new technologies and methodologies. Understand the regulatory, cultural, and business environment in the EMEA region to ensure engineering solutions are appropriate, compliant, and scalable. Global Leadership and Alignment: Work closely with the global engineering leadership team to ensure alignment of the EMEA engineering strategy with the company’s global objectives and standards. Be a voice for the EMEA region in the global engineering leadership team, sharing insights, challenges, and opportunities to shape the company's future direction. Minimum Job Requirements: Skills, knowledge and Experience: Extensive engineering and technical experience Must have a broad background in engineering development activities. Advanced technical and analytical skills necessary to organize, plan and execute multiple programs. Excellent organizational, supervisory and leadership skills necessary to interact in extremely delicate, sensitive and/or complex situations. Strong leadership experience managing engineering teams across multiple locations or countries. Proven experience scaling engineering teams and delivering large, complex engineering projects in the EMEA region or globally. Strong technical expertise in [relevant technologies, e.g., cloud computing, AI/ML, SaaS, etc.], with the ability to make key architectural and technology decisions. Deep understanding of the EMEA market, including regulatory considerations, customer needs, and cultural differences. Experience with agile methodologies, continuous delivery, and modern software development practices. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop diverse engineering teams across multiple geographies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English. Additional language skills are a plus. Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering objectives with overall business goals. Ability to balance technical, operational, and strategic priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment. Education and qualifications: Essential: A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or related field and/or demonstrate equivalent working experience Desirable: Master’s degree in engineering or technical discipline Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing remote teams and building high-performance distributed teams. Knowledge of specific regional challenges, such as data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR), cloud compliance, and data sovereignty in the EMEA region. Expertise in scaling engineering operations in a high-growth environment, particularly in SaaS, fintech, or other tech-driven industries.
