The role
As a Senior Electrical Support Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll join the project team to help design and identify risks and opportunities in the maintenance and sustainability of advanced systems for Royal Navy future submarines.
Day to day you’ll provide input on system design, equipment, material selection, and layout decisions for future submarines whilst collaborating daily with Designers, Engineers, Build Operations, and Supply Chain Specialists.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure a supportable design, acting as the main contact for the design team.
* Apply the supportability checklist, capturing and sharing key information including Lessons from Experience (LfE), assumptions, threats, opportunities, and mitigations.
* Participate in design reviews, supporting delivery integrated project teams in generating evidence for Key Decision Support (KDS) and availability risks.
* Conduct initial assessments of candidate items/assets following the formal process.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. You’ll need to be flexible to travel to Barrow-in-Furness 1 week per month.
Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Support Engineer:
* Proven experience in planning and delivering submarine maintenance in a waterfront setting.
* Knowledge of nuclear submarine fleet/deep maintenance, including product safety and assurance.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, preferably within an industrial partner organisation.
* Ability to operate effectively within a multi-discipline team.
* Understanding of the demands and impacts of challenges across the entire submarine lifecycle.
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Support Engineer:
* HND/Foundation Degree or an equivalent qualification, supplemented by relevant experience in an engineering discipline.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
