We're recruiting for a Pig Farm Unit Manager in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Our client is one of the leading and most progressive businesses in the Northern Ireland pig sector.
The highly regarded company works across numerous sites nationwide, specialising in birth to bacon.
Due to ongoing expansion within the company, they are looking to recruit a Pig Farm Unit Manager.
The successful candidate will be in charge of overseeing and running the unit.
About the job role:
1. Managing a 300 sow indoor sow unit – From birth to bacon
2. Oversee the well-equipped and regularly renovated farm to ensure optimum facilities are available for staff and livestock
3. Operating a wet feeding system for the sows and growing pigs. All feed is bought from the compounder, and no milling is required on-site
4. Working with hybrid Danish and Canadian sows
5. Responsible for a relatively high-input, high-output weekly farrowing system
Person specifications:
1. Experience working with and managing livestock is essential.
2. Highly motivated individual with a desire for continuous improvement.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.
4. Passion for farming, determined, keen, capable individual with an excellent eye for detail.
5. Experience in working within a fast-paced environment.
6. Willingness to learn new skills.
7. Basic level of English and Maths.
8. Good understanding of IT systems, including MS Word and Excel
9. Punctual with good time management skills.
